Had a few of classes today.Nice discussions. Also a good game of footy in the evening. The weather too cooled down so spent some time loitering on the terrace with cool night breeze blowing and the sight of high rise gurgaon buildings on the horizon.Too tired to study in the night,so slept inspite of loads to read before the next classes.

The seriousness is back

After a well deserved holiday on sunday ,the classes started from monday. We got our books on sunday and they are more than a semester's books in engg. The exams are just at month end. Also the method of study is different. There is no theory as such, all the teaching is mostly done by cases. Cases defining different situations are studied and discussed upon. There is healthy interaction between faculty and the students and we can even change the course if don't think the course is relevant or if we have some different cases or topics which we would like to discuss. So this mode of study comes as a surprise element after the engg college. The schedule is hectic as compared to PGPM students. But as per seniors its going to be more hectic as term progresses. So just preparing to slog it out here and also not miss on the enjoyment factor.

End with a bang

The induction till now had been tough, disciplined and harsh on us.But the end has come as a great surprise and matter of immense joy.The icebreaker organised by seniors was awesome , with one and all participating with full vigour. From anthem to the different activities late nite in the icebreaker made every1 throw praises at the senior batch. Then came the all-nite fresher's party. With booze flowing freely as water,it reminded me of movie amercan pie , just the gal factor of AP missing. We danced till we were sapped off of all our energy. The alcoholics had a free day.Starting from 11 pm ,party went on till early hours of the morning probably around 4-5 am. The campus at the end was a sight to see.Glasses and glasses and beer bottles and vodka bottles strewed across the party area and outside, talli people lying everywhere and others tired as hell after hours of dancing. This seemed some college party , never experienced at my engg college. The mood has been set by the seniors - work hard, party harder.
The course classes start from monday. The books have been given to us and exams scheduled in a month for term 0.The books given are as much as were for a semester course in engg. Wondering how am i going to finish them off.Our work work load and time in classes is double of that of PGPM students. So its going to be harder for us.Today's Sunday , going back home for a few hours.Unexpectedly i don't feel any bit home sick and would have done perfectly fine even if didn't go home. Going rite now.....will post wen the classes start.

Induction is fun too

At last some fun in the induction week. The day was assigned for outbound activities. We assembled in the morning after breakfast. The activities were designed and conducted by an outside agency. It was a gr8 learning process and fun filled experience. We performed activities which included wall climbing, rappelling, moving across a huge pit using rope and other exercises.it was a tiring yet enjoyable session.in the night we had a sort of treasure hunt organised by the seniors which actually was a form of disguised ragging. There were group of seniors at various landmarks of the college.According to clues when a team of juniors reached the landmark, seniors asked the team to do some sort of activity or a fun task to give out the next clue.It was a good interaction with seniors.Running at 12 in the night throughout the college and and dancing in front of seniors with them cheering on , was indeed a sight i hadn't imagined i would see. But overall a gr8 ice breaker and for the first time saw the fun side of the seniors.Returned quite late in the night around 3 a.m. Thankfully no assignment :) but there is still yoga the next morning...:(

Here's the MDI's Anthem(muh me lo).Focus on the lyrics :)

continuing the previous post, reached back to the hostel. somehow struggled to finish the assignment, i managed to sleep at 3 :45 am ,only to be woken up at 4:30 am.Assembled for the jogging and yoga session.I just wished i could have some sort of engineering college ragging rather than this.this was much worse. After the session got half an hour to dress up and have breakfast and to report. The schedule was prepared and we were in for longest days of our lives.Starting with guest lectures and other presentation of the council, we could not find a min to spare through the whole day.Adding insult to injury i was fined and handed a reprimand for dozing off in one of the lectures. With just 5 min between each lecture we just rush reaching venues after each lecture and if enough time grab a samosa on the way. After a rigorous day, in which we just had enough free time for ourselves to grab lunch, we were fully exhausted attending lectures for continuous 11 hours. But the worse is the council meeting at the end of the day.Though the council members work very hard for improving conditions for us but the rigor they put us through is too tough for us after a relaxed engg college life.Again we were reprimanded for not maintaining discipline, dozing off in lectures, and not reaching on time. Most of us after being fined were waiting with pleading eyes to let us go back and have some moments of sleep. But that was not to be,we were handed another assignment and told to report for morning yoga at 5:oo a.m. Thus another night with an hour of sleep. The complete exercise of jolting us to get us out of our comfort zone and preparing us for our life ahead is a necessary effort by our seniors but it has left us sleep deprived, tired as a donkey carrying 10 times his load on mount Everest. But this has also made us respect time and taught us to manage time. Now with 50 min for lunch we ,take 15 min to complete lunch and 15 min to sleep and den again follow the schedule.Life has changed totally, from a relaxed day with the nothing much to do after engg. to a day in which we don't get time even think anything other than the schedule. The 23 hr work load is taking its toll , but we are prepared to face all that comes in order to succeed in our chosen professional lives.

P.S : writing this post in 15 min between the lectures. :)

my first post from MDI

Getting into MDI was one of the most joyous achievements of my life.I thought i was ready for life at a gr8 b-school as i had managed to somehow struggle through the engineering college, but i was far from reality. The first day i entered MDI, there was a sense of pride among us all to be a part of this gr8 school.Registered and assembled my belongings in 'Kshitij' (My hostel).Nothing less than a 4 star hotel suite, though an AC would make the room a complete luxury. We all were curious about the infamous induction week and we didn't have to wait much.Asked to assemble at 6 ,I hurried through putting on my best formals( engg. me kabhi nhi pehne) and as i reached the venue i was told to go back in come back after shaving off a day's stubble.Rushing back, borrowing somebody's razor, shaving in flat 2 mins and sprinting back to the audi gave me some idea of what was in store for us for the next two years. In the audi , we were scolded as small kids who failed to do their homeworks. The council bashed our excuses for being non serious about our presession assignments and gave us a dose of how to work in coming two years. After about 7 hours in the audi , listening to all the civil abuses i could have heard ,feeling as if we were the most irresponsible guys in the world, we ambled our way out towards hostel but the shocker was yet to come.We were handed more assignment to complete in the night and to be submitted next morning.Just as we thought we had been docked a few hours of all necessary sleep, it was announced to be ready for jogging and yoga session at 5 in the morning. tired and cursing we headed back to our hostel after an all eventful first unofficial day (the induction week was to start from the next day)
